Our Unique Approach to Learning and Behavioural Difficulties
Using a unique three-step process, we are able to ASSESS, IDENTIFY and then TREAT the underlying causes of your child’s difficulties so they are able to live to their full potential. What makes our approach different is that instead of looking at your child’s symptoms on a superficial level, we look for the underlying causes and are then able to address the different physical, social, intellectual and emotional aspects to ensure lasting change.
Step 1: ASSESS
We ASSESS the underlying causes of your child’s difficulties
The first stage is for you and your child to come into a Developmental Learning Centre for an assessment, which is made up of two elements – the Developmental Movement Assessment and the Auditory Processing Assessment. We strongly recommend your child completes both to gain a full picture of their difficulties. However, in some cases we do offer the assessments separately. If you are unsure please speak to a member of our team to understand the best option for your child's needs.
What is it? |
Assesses all aspects of the individual's neuro developmental status to understand how it affects their ability to learn and cope with everyday life. | Assesses listening skills and how they affect an individual's ability to cope with everyday life. |
Who is it for? |
Most common for children 5-13 years. Adolescents up to 18 years may also benefit. | For children and teenagers of all ages who have listening, sensory processing or behavioural issues. |

3.5 hr assessment with a registered Extra Lesson Practitioner. |
1 hr assessment with a trained Listening Therapist. |
Step 2: IDENTIFY
We IDENTIFY the best solution for your child’s difficulties
On the same day as your child’s assessment, we will hold a Parent Conference to share our findings and explain what action is recommended. This will be followed by a detailed written report explaining the results of the assessments.

Step 3: TREAT
We TREAT your child’s underlying difficulties
Once we have identified the underlying causes of your child’s difficulties, we can begin the journey to help them reach their full potential through the use of our expert therapies explained below.
What is it? |
1 hr, weekly session one-on-one with a trained therapist. A 15 min daily home exercise practice is an essential part of the programme. |
Listening sessions of 1 hr 20 mins in a small group or for mild difficulties, a home based programme. A 15 min multi-sensory movement programme is included in each session. |
How long do the therapies take? |
We recommend your child attend approximately 40 therapy sessions over the course of 12 months during school terms. | We recommend most children complete 30-35 therapy sessions over 11-12 weeks with breaks in between segments. Autistic children may need up to 60 sessions. |
How do I know it is working? |
A 1 ½ hr Final Reassessment will be conducted at the end of the programme. |
Four Auditory Assessments are carried out at crucial intervals and a Parent Conference held after each to update you on your child’s progress. Approximately 6 months after therapy completion, we carry out a Final Assessment. |
